Scotland based producer and DJ DFRNT has been honing his own unique blend of heady, smooth dubstep for the past few years. We first took note in 2009 with the release of his label Echodub’s free compilation, Echodub Loves Vol. 1. Echodub’s roster of forward thinking producers includes upcoming Percussion Lab feature Rooflight and a small group of like minded <3 steppers who have been helping separate the bass from the bros. With his last release, “Metafiction”, DFRNT moves a bit more onto the dance floor with remixes from big players such as Hotflush Recording’s Scuba, Planet Mu’s Ital Tek, Synkro, Indigo and DJ Madd. This set goes up in anticipation of DFRNT’s US tour starting this week. Not exactly a good example of what you might hear from DFRNT in the club (expect his US Tour sets to be far more upbeat and club friendly), but definitely what you want to hear on your phones.
